People need an easy and efficient way to learn new new and build upon what he already know. It is important to be able to add new words to help integrate them into their vocabulary
Solution
Goals
A low fidelity wireframe of an app that helps users learn languages by including how to integrate regional phrases, slang and connecting with locals.
Create an app that uses flash cards to help people learn vocabulary.
Design Process
My process was to research vocabulary apps and conduct surveys of potential users to discover pain points in order to create user goals and user stories to find solutions to these problems. Then plan out how the app would function through user flows. These would help inform how the app would look and function in the wireframing stage.
Competitive Analysis
01
Interviews
02
After my competitive analysis I believed I had enough background information to start questioning potential users what they would like out of a vocabulary app. I interviewed five people what they thought would be useful.

Interview Questions

When was the last time you had to learn vocabulary? Why?
What methods do you normally use to learn vocabulary?
What do you like/dislike about the current methods you use?
Do you find it easier learning with an app or not? Why?
What do you find challenging when learning vocabulary?
Is there a moment good or bad in your learning that stands out?
In the future would you change the way you study vocabulary? Why?
Observations
Interviewees wanted an easy way to study throughout the day.
They wanted to be able to add their own definitions or examples to help them.
They wanted to be reminded to study.
They wanted to be have more practice with words they continued to get wrong.

Testing & Iteration
05
Well Done

I changed the well-done screen at the end of the quiz to show how many words the user got right and wrong and gave the option to review the wrong answers.
Changes Made
New Add Word

Instead of spending time going through multiple screens to add a word, I thought that being able to enter all the information on one screen for as many words the user chose was much simpler.

Key Takeaways
My first foray into UX Design taught me to try to keep the user at the forefront of the design to make sure I'm designing for them and not just what I think would be best for me.
Future Roadmap
Another round of testing to see if the changes have improved the experience.

A new feature that adds dialect and phrases common in different regions
